PM Modi said that the "Axe Band Panchayat" campaign started from Ranthambore in Rajasthan has been very effective. The local people have taken an oath that they will not go to the forest with an axe, will not cut any tree. This is creating an environment for tigers.
History of International Tiger Day International Tiger Day was started in the year 2010. In a Tiger Summit in Russia, the countries of the tiger range discussed tiger conservation. In the same conference, it was decided to celebrate International Tiger Day on 29 July every year. The objective of International Tiger Day is to take necessary steps for the continuously decreasing number of tigers. On this day, efforts are made to spread awareness about tigers through various programs. Various government and non-government organizations promote tiger conservation efforts. Forests are also decreasing continuously, which is why tigers attack nearby settlements and areas. Due to lack of favorable environment, it is affecting the lives of tigers.
Start of Project Tiger in India The Government of India started Project Tiger in 1973, which aims to promote the number of tigers in the country and protect their habitats. Many tiger reserves have also been established under this project. Along with this, special policies have also been made for tiger conservation.
