International Tiger Day Date 2024: International Tiger Day is celebrated every year on 29 July to make people aware about the conservation of tigers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday talked about the conservation of tigers in his monthly program Mann Ki Baat.

Tiger Day will be celebrated all over the world tomorrow

PM Modi said in the 112th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, “Tomorrow, Monday, Tiger Day will be celebrated all over the world. In India, the tiger has been an integral part of our culture. We all have grown up listening to stories related to tigers. In the villages around the forest, everyone knows how to live in harmony with the tiger. There are many villages in our country where there is never a conflict between humans and tigers.

But even where such a situation arises, unprecedented efforts are being made for the conservation of tigers. PM Modi said that the “Axe Band Panchayat” campaign started from Ranthambore in Rajasthan has been very effective. The local people have taken an oath that they will not go to the forest with an axe, will not cut any tree. This is creating an environment for tigers.

History of International Tiger Day

International Tiger Day was started in the year 2010. In a Tiger Summit in Russia, the countries of the tiger range discussed tiger conservation. In the same conference, it was decided to celebrate International Tiger Day on 29 July every year. The objective of International Tiger Day is to take necessary steps for the continuously decreasing number of tigers. On this day, efforts are made to spread awareness about tigers through various programs. Various government and non-government organizations promote tiger conservation efforts.

Talking about the reasons for the decreasing number of tigers, they are poached due to the demand for their skins, bones and other organs. Forests are also decreasing continuously, which is why tigers attack nearby settlements and areas. Due to lack of favorable environment, it is affecting the lives of tigers.

Start of Project Tiger in India
The Government of India started Project Tiger in 1973, which aims to promote the number of tigers in the country and protect their habitats. Many tiger reserves have also been established under this project. Along with this, special policies have also been made for tiger conservation.

There are currently a total of 54 tiger reserves in India. The incident has happened. Some students have died due to the criminal negligence of Delhi coaching institute and MCD officials. The students demand that an FIR be filed against all the culprits related to the incident.”
